The Mountain Cattlemen’s Association of Victoria raises money for RDA with the help of a wild Brumby!

The Mountain Cattlemen’s Association of Victoria has selected RDA Australia as a recipient of their 35th Annual Mountain Cattlemen’s Get-Together in 2009.

This annual event raises awareness and keeps the pioneering heritage of the High Country alive. Emphasis will be on younger generations and a gathering of prominent cattlemen families from all four High Country regions.

The Mountain Cattlemen’s Association VIC are capturing a wild Brumby and gentling it through its natural horsemanship course in time to auction the horse at their annual ‘09 Get together’ and ‘Mountain Bred Horse Sale’. 100% of the proceeds of the sale of the wild Brumby are being donated to RDA.

The capture and training of this wild Brumby is being tracked and documented by Outback Magazine.

The wild Brumby now has a name ‘Rose River’ (after the location where she was captured). For the full story on the wild Brumby and more of Bill Bachman’s wonderful photos, look out for the 2009 April/May issue of R.M.William's OUTBACK magazine (www.outbackmag.com.au)

The 35th Annual Mountain Cattlemen’s Get-Together will be held at Merrijig from the 9th to 11th January 2009.

For the very first time the crack riders from ‘The Man from Snowy River’ films are reuniting, and is set to be a very moving display.
